What would you expect from a movie with Jet Li and Jason Statham? Hi octane action scenes? A tough ass kicking movie where martial arts played a major part? Hell yes!

Unfortunately that is not what you get. Jet Li has to be one of the better protagonists of martial arts in recent cinema, but he is wasted in this, because they do not use him for that effect, so why choose him at all then? Choose another, more convincing bad man for the part and play it straight down the line.

Overall the plot is simple, cop and partner, partner killed, cop look for revenge. You have all seen it done before, and better than it is worked here, as a stylish action film it plays out at a very glossed over level, if you expected anything else, you will be disappointed. I recall “The One”, which was the last movie this pair made together, and that at least delivered on special effects and fight scenes, this is simply a poor effort using the action star names.

I will never be convinced that Statham can be a real badass, nor hold up a lead part, I reckon Clive Owen should sue him for copyright breach (simmering, unshaved, quiet spoken, but poor……hardcase)

3/10 - find something to watch that is more worthy of your time.
