Not Lawro Predicts - 01/03/2008
by Not Lawro on February 28th, 2008

Well another Premiership weekend. My pecker is well up after the fantastic victory last weekend, so here we go with the predictions.

Arsenal v Aston Villa

Arsenal seem to have stumbled as of late – I hope it’s nothing to do with that love letter I sent to Arsene…

Villa are on the up and up, being solid but not spectacular and I can see them nicking a point here.

Prediction : 1-1

Birmingham v Tottenham

Birmingham picked up a good point against Arsenal last week despite having 10 men for most of the game. Still it gave me the opportunity to give Eduardo a bed bath – hope he enjoyed it as much as me.

It’s job done for Spurs this season, they are safe, mid table and have qualified for Europe next season thanks to winning the Carling Cup, this with Birmingham’s strong home form means I can see then winning this

Prediction : 2-1

Derby v Sunderland

Oh my God. If you were given a ticket to this as a present you would wonder what you did wrong.

Derby are awful – end of story, not a lot more you can say apart they are counting down the days until the start of the Championship Season.

Sunderland are poor on their travels but will see this as an ideal opportunity to get 3 points closer to survival

Prediction : 0-2

Fulham v Manchester United

This is as much of a no-brainer as Man United’s last game. They are playing another awful team who play in Black and White.

Fulham are as good as gone – with Birmingham picking up points they are running out of time and games.

Man United have recovered from their Derby day loss with two huge victories and there is no reason they will not make this three in a row today.

Prediction : 0-3

Middlesbrough v Reading

“They” got the hiding they deserved at Mecca last week (dirty rotten cheats) and will be tired following their lucky lucky lucky win in the cup (Al woke me from a lovely dream to tell me they had won)

Reading are in total freefall, but did show some signs of fight against Villa last week – enough to make me believe they can pick up a win here.

Prediction : 1-2

Newcastle v Blackburn

Contrasting fortunes for these teams last week.

Newcastle were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat last week (defensive coach Kev ? Hint, hint, HINT) and will be glad their previous manager managed to get them so many points.

Blackburn had a thumping home win last week and have still not given up hope on Europe though it looks a long way off.

Prediction : 1-2

West Ham v Chelsea

West Ham are safe in mid table and have only pride and places to play for. They have been getting stronger at home (like me) this season and seem to be developing into a solid unit.

Chelsea will be smarting from their cup defeat last week and will be looking for revenge, but I can see the happy Hammers getting something

Prediction : 1-1

Manchester City v Wigan (KO 17:15)

Man City were awful against Everton on Monday night and have the ideal opportunity to put things right.

Wigan have put a little bit of daylight between themselves and the bottom three, which is just as well as I see them getting nothing here

Prediction : 2-0

Bolton v Liverpool (Sunday, KO 13:30)

Bolton were thumped by their local rivals last week and are still nervously looking over their shoulder.

Not a good time then to meet the mighty Liverpool who are back to winning ways in style. No contest here

Prediction : 0-3

Everton v Portsmouth (Sunday, KO 16:00)

Everton are in the form of their lives in 2008. So much so they are illegally occupying the top 4 spot set aside for their neighbours. In this sort of form it is very hard to predict against them.

Portsmouth have also in good form having recovered from a hiccup and are just outside the European places, but I cannot see them getting anything here.

Prediction : 1-0
