Relfy and myself were lucky enough to hear Suzanne Marron play live on Bob Fischer’s Gobstopper show on Monday night. Both of us were stunned at the performance, Β for an off the cuff “gig-ette” we heard a musician of undoubted quality play songs of originality and ability. Enough of my witterings though, here’s Suzanne in her own words:
“Music was always a big part of our family life. Every Sunday my Mam used to put Queen or Doris Day on full blast and sing along to all the songs while she did the housework. Artists like Simon and Garfunkel, The beatles, Carol King, Mungo Jerry, T-Rex, James Taylor, Eddi Reader and Nancy Griffith made their way in to our household and into my ears. One artist in particular, Joni Mitchell, made a huge impact on me when I was a troublesome fourteen year old confused about life. I think in some way her music consoled me. “

It would be nice to think that the B17 team can put their hands in their pockets, and purchase a few copies,Β all do it on the 7th April then, a possible chart entry? Who knows, but it would be nice if in a sea of pre-processed pap, we got some home grown talent!
