Karma ….. Chameleon, my ring tone. Jug ears always laughs at that. Less so since I put the elephant march from the Jungle Book on his phone.
Karma is also fate. Like sending that card to Bennett after the Villa game against “them”. How does he repay me ? By a dodgy sending off in a game we should have won easily. Looks like the “Champions of England” thong will have to go back into mothballs for another year, and Bennett is no longer invited to my end of season nibbles party.
7 games to go, things are hotting up at both ends of the table and nothing has been decided yet (apart from that Derby are rubbish). The predictions in a critical week.
Birmingham v Manchester City
Everything went wrong for Birmingham last weekend and a defeat here could see them adrift of the field. Their home form has been the reason why they are not in the bottom three.
City have given up totally and already seem to be on their holidays. They have struggled since their win at Old Trafford and I can see another defeat here/
Prediction : 1-0
Bolton v Arsenal
Bolton picked up a point last week but need more than that to survive. They need to do it at home as their away form is pretty dreadful.
Arsenal just cannot win at the moment and are in danger of missing out on the top 2. A win is vital for them too here. I’ll cop out totally and go for a draw.
Prediction : 1-1
Derby v Fulham
The “one to avoid” this week. I’d rather watch Jug Ears practise his Full Monty routine for Children in Need than this twaddle. Derby are down, and seem to be resigned to the fact. Their performances are nothing to write home about either.
Fulham lost last week but have managed to drag themselves to still be in touch. I think they will get a vital win here to set a few teams glancing nervously behind them.
Prediction : 1-2
Portsmouth v Wigan
Pompey lost last week late on but generally are in good form Players seem to be playing for their semi final place rather than shying away risking injury.
Wigan suffered an unsurprising loss at Blackburn last week, and will probably feel 2 wins guarantee their Premiership place next year. This won’t be one of them.
Prediction : 2-0
Reading v Blackburn
Reading have found a little form of late - just at the right time and like Wigan will feel 2 wins will do them.
Blackburn are an up and down team at the moment. You never know which team will turn up. I’ll go for a home win
Prediction : 2-1
Sunderland v West Ham
Another team at the bottom looking to edge nearer safety. Sunderland had an excellent win last week and they are very strong at home.
West Ham gained an excellent draw last week and seem to have their run of thrashings behind them. This will be a tight one but I think the home side will just nick it
Prediction : 2-1
Manchester United v Aston Villa (KO 17:15)
United fluked a win last week. Damn you, Bennett, damn you. They now have a nice cushion at the top of the table and seem unstoppable.
Not a good time to go there then, especially when you are out of form and the distant dream of Europe has slipped away.
Prediction : 2-0
Chelsea v Middlesbrough (Sunday, KO 13:30)
Chelsea have suddenly hit form in the league since their cup exit and will now see themselves at the main challengers to Man United.
“They” squeaked past woeful Derby last week and have gone the last 3 undefeated, but it pleasures me to say they never win at Stamford Bridge and will be crushed out of sight here.
Prediction : 3-0
Tottenham v Newcastle (Sunday, KO 15:00)
Tottenham got a good win last week but still seem to be going through the motions until the end of the season.
Keegan finally got his first win last week (hope that fax was OK Kev) and will see this as an opportunity to build on that. I see Newcastle taking at least a point here.
Prediction : 1-1
Liverpool v Everton (Sunday, KO 16:00)
The big one at the Mecca, and a chance for the neighbours to finally be put in their place. Liverpool were so unlucky last week. I offered Rafa a shoulder to cry on, but he just gave me a funny look. Still their home form is close to perfection and I see that continuing.
The burden of being the 2nd best team in Liverpool is finally catching up with Everton. They should keep 5th place which is commendable for Moyes’ team. Nailed on home win.
Prediction : 2-0
