There have been a few attempts by someone in power somewhere in the movie business to insert Ice Cube into the comedy genre using his sullen countenance as some sort of lead. Whilst I enjoyed a couple of the early attempts, the ‘Friday’ series, which were harmless, if witless ‘pop’ culture movies with a hit and miss storyline, but at least some charm, this seems to be a low point for the ballooning ‘Cube’ and his cronies.

The story revolves around a couple of bumbling crooks who somehow lose a consignment of stolen wheelchairs and in an attempt to make good the loss, try to rob an affluent neighbourhood church, and the quirky resistance offered by the community. Typically, we have a motor mouth, an embezzling preacher, and a beautiful preacher’s daughter (can you guess where that is going?)

There is a pushy moralistic sense in the film, promoting the community, spiritual righteousness and redemption, which is somewhat ironic, especially since there are no features in this film worth saving.

1.0/10, Cube seems to have lost any direction that made him a ‘name’ once upon a time, and overall this is a weak, pastiche of slapstick from a bygone age, that does not translate, nor engage the viewer. I cannot see the studios giving him more chances; save your time for something worthwhile.
