Victor Espana!

So the Spanish have finally broken through and gone all the way - for once we can say that we feel some admiration for the winners as we don’t have cocky Portuguese bar-stewards rubbing it in everyone’s faces or 6ft + Germans just winning. You have to say that the Spanish did extremely well - from an Englishmen’s point of view it was good that they grabbed Ze Germans by the scruff of the neck and really gave them what for as ‘they don’t like it up em!’ <he’s come over all Dads Army: Ed>

I kind of had a feeling they wouldn’t do particularly well without David Villa but the midfield is world class and really carried the play and in particular frustrated the likes of Frings and Ballack whilst Hitzelsburger kept giving the ball away. One player in particular who really caught my eye was defensive midfielder Senna, plenty of order was restored in that midfield battle, whilst Senna left it be and fecked off with the ball. Ze Germans surprisingly were a little off defensively as Torres as a lone striker did well to stretch them to the hilt - and of course him doing so resulted in the goal. One thing that would have really got to me, which I suppose, is irrelevant now was Lehmann’s leg once Torres tapped it away, Christ on a bike his leg was high - was he after some pigeons on the roof? I would have shown a little aggression smoggy style with the big oaf being a tit as usual.

Germany were punchless us up front, Klose couldn’t squeeze through, Schweinsteiger kept clipping balls in but the German height were nowhere to be seen, Ballack again in a final was unknown <him and finals just don’t get on; Ed> and Kuranyi was well he could have had a leather jacket full of ‘reflex watches’ as he would been more use.

So in 2008 we see the Spanish as champions - you can’t say they haven’t dominated European football enough between now and the last time they won it so good on them. I’m sure Not-Lawro and co will wake up with huge stonk on’s with the thought of Liverpool’s born and bred grabbing the winner.

On that note I have to say the only person who came good from the beeb’s coverage over these weeks is Shearer, with a failed jock and a boring Manager who you couldn’t even see his eyes. Yes Shearer got the prediction correct and I won some dosh so a good Monday overall it seems.
