featherless-chicken.jpegAnother busy week here. The Indian summer has meant that Fernando is progressing well but it will be the spring before I fully get the benefits of him. Hmmmmm Fernando.Well I finally confronted my neighbour about that troublesome cockerel and he admitted it was not a good idea to get it as he’d had plenty of other complaints. He said he was going to have it put down. I like to think of myself as a humane bloke, and offered to choke his chicken for him.Β  I tried to grab his cock and squeeze the life out of itΒ Β  - he wasn’t impressed with my actions as we looked at it lying there, limp. He says he will concentrate of the veggies and the rest of the poultry will go. Theres nothing wrong with a bit of meat and two veg………….

Well, here’s your predictions….

Everton v Liverpool (KO 12:45)

Everton have had what can only be described as a stuttering start to the season but will be relieved many of their rivals for 5th place have been just as inconsistent. Their home form which is normally their strength appears to be their weakness now.

Liverpool somehow failed to score last week despite spending 90 minutes in Stoke’s penalty area, but they did get through in the Carling Cup. The quadruple is still on (I wonder if I can get a special thong made if we win all 4 … hmmmmm). Anyway, away win here to put me in heaven and Liverpool top.

Prediction : 0-2

Aston Villa v Sunderland

Villa suffered a shock in the cup in midweek but are bang in form in the league and will be rueing the Stoke game. With such a young side and such momentum it really is hard to back against them.

Sunderland picked up their first home win last week, then again it was only against “them”. Still it will give them confidence going into this game. I can see Sunderland playing well but I just cannot see them getting anything here. Home win.

Prediction : 3-1

Fulham v West Ham United

Fulham have been a mixed bag as the start of the season in this meeting of two “consistently inconsistent” teams. The only real difference between these two teams is the venue.

West Ham have been the same, good at home, not so good away and I see this being a win for Fulham only due to the fact they are at home.

Prediction : 2-1

Manchester United v Bolton Wanderers

United still haven’t truly found their feet this season and the unusual kick off time will not help them. They seem to be missing something from last season and will be hoping the return of Ronaldo will kick start their season into life.

Bolton are not in the best of form and this will concern them greatly as you would expect 2 of the 4 teams below them not to finish as low as that, and the last thing they really needed at this time was a visit to Old Trafford.

Prediction : 3-0

Middlesbrough v West Bromwich Albion

“They” are amusing me at the moment. They are not only conceding late goals but are missing penalties too. And they are losing which always pleases me. Now on top of this they have suspensions and injuries. I love it.

The baggies will see this as an ideal opportunity to kick start their season and will be more than happy to take any points on offer. A win here would put them above their hosts and have them feeling a whole lot better.

Prediction : 0-2

Newcastle United v Blackburn Rovers

What on earth is happening on Tyneside ?? An awful start for Newcastle and when you think Bolton missed a penalty too it could have been worse. They were woeful defensively last week and are already out of the Carling Cup. Oh, and Kev if you are reading this, I got back my defensive notes I loaned you, thanks. Just glad you didn’t leave them there for the new guy.

Rovers were battered last week, there was no other word for it although an out of sorts Newcastle with a restless fan base are a completely different prospect to the Gunners. I can see them picking up something here - not sure what though.

Prediction : 1-1

Stoke City v Chelsea

Stoke somehow escaped from the Mecca with a point. I think they used up all their luck for the season in that one game. Despite their low points total they will be satisfied with their performances so far this season.

Chelsea will have been relived to get a point last week. Not their best performance but they will be thankful they did not lose any points to a top 4 rival. The had better arrive at Stoke ready for a battle otherwise they will be in for a surprise. Away win here though I think

Prediction : 1-3

Arsenal v Hull City (KO 17:30)

Arsenal were awesome last week and really seem to be in the groove now. The confidence will be sky high and some of the football they are playing is wonderful. At this rate they will be certainties for the runners up spot.

Hull will be very pleased with their start to the season but I fear for them in this game. Defensively they are not the best in the league and if they concede early this could ger embarrassing.

Prediction : 3-0

Portsmouth v Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday, KO 13:30)

Portsmouth were annihilated at City last week and have not really got going this season. The defence seems to be very frail compared to last season and it is now their weakness rather than their strength.

Something is wrong at White Hart Lane. The talent is there but it is just not performing and just when you think Spurs will get their season started they flatter to deceive again. Stay at home and have you Sunday lunch. This will be a draw.

Prediction : 1-1

Wigan v Manchester City (Sunday, KO 16:00)

Wigan have been solid but unspectacular so far this season. Defensively they are looking at lot more solid but this new resolve will be tested to the full in this match.

City were rampant last week and look full of goals. They will find Wigan a different prospect to Portsmouth but with the confidence high at Eastlands I can see them winning a close one.

Prediction : 1-2
