Wow, what a performance, what a win on Sunday. And they then want me to do a preview of the midweek games as well? My wrists are killing me after Sunday and they expect me to type. It’s a good job Jug Ears gave me a few sites to look at to teach me to type with only one hand (so the other can be rested), but why did everyone on those sites have moustaches like mine ?????I also have this Neighbourhood watch meeting to attend. I think it is well worth doing after my losses recently and will report back the plan going forward. Anything to protect Stevie G is good for me. I couldn’t decide on what to take so I asked the hosts. They asked for a glass bowl to hold the keys. It surely would be easier to use a rack ?? I mentioned my skills in the kitchen and they seemed quite keen when I asked if I could provide part of a roast for them.
So it’s back in the kitchen for me, here are your predictions …..
Newcastle United v West Bromwich Albion (Tuesday, KO 19:45)
Newcastle were beaten but only just be their local rivals on Saturday, and are looking a lot more robust than earlier in the season.
The Baggies were beaten 3-0 but can consider themselves unlucky to have been beaten so soundly in a game they could have taken something from. I see it a little more clear cut here. Home Win
Prediction : 2-0
Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers (Wednesday, KO 19:45)
Villa had a great away win over the weekend and continue with their good run of form, and with bigger sides not finding the consistency they seem to have will fancy a shot at the top 4 this season
Blackburn got a point from “them”, I was so glad the goal was in the last minute, game me a good laugh on Saturday. But their overall form is quite patchy now and I think Villa will be too strong for them
Prediction : 2-0
Fulham v Wigan Athletic (Wednesday, KO 19:45)
Fulham did manage to rescue a much needed point at the weekend, taking advantage of a team that had just lost it’s manager. Whether that was a one off or the start of something for them remains to be seen.
Wigan were battered at the weekend but will relish a trip to the Cottage to try and get their season back on track. I can see them edging a tight one here.
Prediction : 1-2
Hull City v Chelsea (Wednesday, KO 19:45)
Hull just cannot stop winning at the moment and last week was a big game proving they can perform against teams at their own level as well as the big guns of the division.
Chelsea will be reeling from their resounding defeat at the hands of the mighty reds on Sunday, and will quickly be looking to get back to winning ways. I think they will run out winners but it will not be as easy as they think.
Prediction : 0-2
Stoke City v Sunderland (Wednesday, KO 19:45)
Stoke were soundly beaten on Sunday but will take heart that one win could see them back into mid table. Their home form is the key to survival and this is one they will have on their list as a potential win.
Sunderland will be flying after beating their closest rivals and will not be looking upwards as who to catch instead of how close to the drop zone they are. Another tight one here but I see the points going back to the north east.
Prediction : 1-2
Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur (Wednesday, KO 20:00)
Arsenal will be glad they are only 4 points off the top as they have had a couple of hiccups this season, and are yet to turn their pressure and chances at home into goals.
Harry’s first game in charge will be a very difficult one. It was a completely different Spurs on Sunday compared to the rest of the season which he will take lots of positives about. However I just cannot see them overcoming a very strong Arsenal side here.
Prediction : 2-0
Bolton Wanderers v Everton (Wednesday, KO 20:00)
Bolton were average to say the least as they became Spurs’ first victims of the season, and now more than every need to get some form at home otherwise they will be in real trouble.
Everton will be encouraged not only by the result on Saturday but also the performance and will hope this will kick start a charge up the table. I can see them picking up the points here.
Prediction : 1-2
Liverpool v Portsmouth (Wednesday, KO 20:00)
Aaah, my wonderful reds. What a performance at the weekend and now there is clear daylight between them and the rest of the league you may as well send the trophy to the engravers now.
Pompey ??? No manager and no chance here. They cannot even beat Fulham at home. They will be buried by the all conquering red machine. Another home win at the Mecca.
Prediction : 3-0
Manchester United v West Ham United (Wednesday, KO 20:00)
United may well feel they are in the last chance saloon already as they are starting to lose touch with the top 4 never mind the leaders. This is a must win game for them to try and keep pace.
The hammers were not so happy on Sunday losing to Arsenal. They are currently sat in mid table which sums them up perfectly as they win one week lose the next. However that will not continue as I see United getting the win they desperately need.
Prediction : 2-0
Middlesbrough v Manchester City (Wednesday, KO 20:00)
“They” managed to blow it in the last minute again. Just a pity it was for a draw and not a defeat. They have 10 points more than I would like them to have but after the next couple of weeks I will take great pleasure in seeing them in their rightful place in the bottom 3.
City won again at home at Robinho getting a hat trick will be a big plus. They will have seen how easily Chelsea attacked “them” and know they will be able to score with ease. Away win - put your mortgage on it.
Prediction : 0-3
