Good God Man!

Well slap me with a wet fish we got beat, Fulhams home record isn’t that bad but the way we’ve played away this season I for one would have taken a draw.

Not the case it seems, Fulham had other ideas a very topsy turvy 40 minutes lead to chances from both sides, as ‘arrrgghh don’t touch my face’ Pantsil had a free header in the box only to go wide.

Boro had a glorious opportunity through Tuncay, a header met by a corner from Stewy Downing; he met it with power and almost accuracy, which went wide of Mark Schwarzers goal.

Julio Arca was really really lucky not to sent off, a clear stamp on Andy Johnson resulted in him screaming in pain like a fanny and then he got up a minute later…tosser.

Fulham did grab the opener through Jimmy Bullard, as he paraded around the pitch, passing to one man and the next and eventually it ended up him jogging over and lacing it in the top corner from a rebound.

This didn’t bode well, it made the second half almost look unwatchable, unlistenable and in the end unbearable.

On the stroke of the 54th minute Fulham had got a penalty, a shambolic decision made by the officials if it’s favouring the home then where was ours last week?  Tony McMahon clearing his lines only to hit back at him straight away and tap him on the hand.  Danny Murphy stepped up and struck it past Turnbull who couldn’t reach it even when he went the right way.

The way the game is played now is a bit damning, 2 goals really makes you almost untouchable and the 3 points is yours.  For us it was either a matter of damage limitation or sneaking a goal and getting back in the game.

We did neither; Fulham pressed even further and ended up well and truly wrapping the game up through Clint Dempsey a gap in the defence resulted in that killer ball straight through and then he slotted is past Turnbull.

We are now in a relegation fight whether we like it or not, it’s disheartening to hear our best players been linked with moves away from the club, Tuncay, Downing, Mido and O’Neil - if all of them leave we will go down.   Boro need to get a grip fast, this needs sorting and sorting quick.  We need to grit our teeth and roll our sleeves and to brace ourselves for not only Christmas but a relegation fight too.

Have a Merry Christmas all you B17er’s.
