This is the 1st of a triple whammy of home games and as 2 are in the league and 1 in the cup all 3 are a must-win if we have any chance of getting our season back on track.
Of course in the two home games in Wigan and Liverpool the Wigan game is obviously been deemed the most winnable. They’re having not a bad season at the moment picking the odd win and draw and getting points on the board whether we are not.
We will be putting what’s pretty much our full strength side, O’Neil on the right with Digard in the centre with hopefully Walker, Downing might be given the free role, he did his new found position no harm at West Ham and starting his goal tally, that would ultimately mean Johnson is wide left.
With the midfield in place it would leave 1 spot for a striker probably Alves, who needs to start putting his chances as now it’s a sign of progress really that missing chances is now our new-found downfall in games and that needs to amended in front of the home fans.
Wigan won’t be an easy game, the league table does not lie, but this game comes under the category of home games that we must win, games such as Portsmouth, Hull and Fulham, yes this is definitely a game labelled top priority in getting some points on the board.
Wigan’s last win came on January 11th against Spurs at home so they haven’t won in while and managed to remain in a cushdy 7th position. We on the other hand haven’t won since…Erm well let’s not dwell we need to win this and it’s a sheer must.
What is most important and it was frequently stated last season as well as this, when we are 1-0 up don’t sit back on 60 minutes or so, we are in a relegation battle we need the goals and we desperately need the points.
My heart says we’ll win, and no doubt my expectation and anticipation will grow further as I get to the Riverside and I’m trying to ignore any pessimistic thoughts I have, as many of us just agree that’s we’re doomed, we’re going down, we’re going bankrupt and we’ll lose all that is good in our side in the summer, but lets not forget this is the Boro and we’ve had many surprises over the years and escaping from relegation at the death hasn’t been done in a while so who knows.
Boro to win 1-0.
Come on Boro!
