As media darlings Liverpool feel the wrath of what a Premiership title race with Man Utd’s like, we on the other hand are still searching for a win to recapture our faith.
Let’s be honest it isn’t good, not winning in 14 games and not being bottom of the league is somewhat short of a miracle, West Brom are still there and there are still getting beat but at least they can score, unlike our fantastic goal scoring record of 1 in 9.
We haven’t done that badly at home over recent years against the scousers where 0-0s have been a plenty and a 1-1 last season where we were unlucky not to get more.
This however is different, both sides have different forms of pressure, if Liverpool lose this and Man Utd win, the Premier League crown will stay at Old Trafford so that’s there pressure.
Ours need well where do you start? Need to score, need to win and need to keep a clean sheet (stat: if we don’t concede today we’ll have played 14 homes and conceded 14 at home making it 1 goal every home game against).
We were unlucky at Anfield this season on the 23rd August (almost seems like a lifetime) where the lovable Steven Gerrard (fingers down throat) belted it in to make it 2-1, however now we almost seem like a completely different side.
One thing you do when you’re in a relegation fight is usually check the scores of the teams around you, West Brom travel to Everton, Newcastle travel to Bolton, Stoke are away to Aston Villa and Portsmouth are home to Chelsea, all these are today.
However this is not the problem, with Stoke and Blackburn both losing at the weekend it showed how significant 3 points were against Wigan last week, it was a huge game for us and this week is as well, it doesn’t matter who we are playing, it’s in our hands we need the victory and that’s and end of it.
Obviously Liverpool will be bringing their rather large rotating squad with them but if there’s a tax disc on their coach you’ll know something’s not right.
I’ll go for a 0-0 but a win is vital.
