I didn't think Gibson would have the balls to do it, I thought we were just sliding slowly toward the weakest of relegations in PL history.

Surely they have been putting the feelers out prior to this announcement and must have at least a few candidates eyed up, international break gives them a chance to start from scratch with the squad/formation/mentality

Personally don't want Pearson. He was class as a player for us, but he completely cracked at Leicester and Derby under the pressure from journalists.

Roy Hodgson until the end of the season, please, with a nice hefty wad for keeping us up. Then a new manager depending on which division we are in.

The timing of it would suggest we have someone lined up to take over after the match on Sunday, they then have 2 weeks to get the players prepared for the 3 critical games in the week that follows.

Saddened by it. Had to happen but it feels bad to me.
Hope AK goes on to good things elsewhere.

Absolutely gutted by this.

It feels incredibly disrespectful and disloyal. A very jawdee thing to have done. We were in a significantly worse position under Southgate but he was given the opportunity to see out what he'd started. I feel that Aitor should've been shown the same respect. Even if we had of gone down under AK I would've liked to have seem him kept on. He knows exactly what is required to get out of the champo.

Its not what our club normally does. I always felt we were better in that regard but it seems we too have fallen into the trap of modern football.

Many of the negative things that people said about Aitor, his stubbornness, his belief in his style, his uncompromising honesty in respect to how he answered journo's questions, made me love him even more. A man of principle and self belief.

But we are where we are. I will respect the decision and move on. Personally I like to see us do everything possible to get Hiddink in. Even if its just till the end of the season. Hodgson is also a good shout.

If its Pardew or Pearson then I can see me avoiding the Riverside for some time. We don't need proven failures.

Only need to look to Leicester and Swansea for the possible effects that a new manager can bring to a down and out team - we simply have to pray that whoever comes in gets a similar response as those two teams

there is no doubt that if he had stayed we would go down.....the performances over the last couple of months have been nothing short of shambolic

his lack of tact and respect away from the pitch has been made more apparent over the last week or so

Had to go.

We are statistically one of the most inept attacking teams to have ever graced the PL.

He did a great job saving us initially, then the playoff final, and then finally getting us up. He'll go down as a great manager.

The change was right to make.

I don't care IF we go down, or IF we get beat. It's HOW we go down and HOW we get beat.

Let's at least have a fucking go. This season so far has been a fucking whimper.
