Funnily enough, 'shunting' went down as well for a few days around the middle of December, and it kicked off (sort of).

The 'Rangierstellwerkes' is the signal box for the shunting, by the way. They were demolishing it at the time the camera went down. And the departures for Deggendorf and Bayerisch Eisenstein have been revised from xx:07 to xx:06 with the new timetable. Just so you don't miss them.

I want to know why the signal box was demolished?

There's a differently-coloured diesel unit working the Waldbahn at the moment. It looks as if it has moved in from somewhere else. I've only seen it the once before today but it just left on a service so should be back on the service that arrives at about 12:53 our time.

One of the ones in your avatar just arrived. Its livery makes it look very much like it thinks it's at Willesden Junction.

Also - how long do they stay in the flipping station for?!

Ah. The one that's been there for ages has just departed in the same direction it arrived from.

Generally during the day they arrive at about xx53 and they are timetabled to leave at xx06 but may wait for incoming connections if they are running late.

Everything else happens in more or less the same period although the stopping train to/from the north (usually in the extreme right hand platform) arrives shortly before and leaves shortly after everything else.

Possibly. Though Plzen is almost directly due north of here. Isn't that where the big Skoda factory is?

Yep. With a red front. The resolution isn't quite good enough to read the wording. It's probably from another operation run by the same company as the Waldbahn.

Why do none of the passenger trains except the white pointy ones head west? I can see it's the terminus for the Waldbahn thing - does that apply to all the medium sized red ones as well?

The red ones head south west (up to the far end then left) and most head on to Munchen. In the opposite direction they form the stopping service south east to Passau, following the pointy white ones in even hours (local time). By and large they use the platforms on the left but sometimes the main platforms in odd hours. The pointy white ones heading west go north west to Regensburg then on to places like Nurnberg, Frankfurt etc. There is also an hourly stopping service to Regensburg formed by the grey ones which use the platform on the extreme left most of the time.

I meant extreme right. Only the 11:11 (local time) uses platform 1 for some reason.

Strange things right now. The northbound and southbound white pointies arrived a few minutes late and are using the two extreme right platforms instead of the main through ones. As I type they are both held there now 15 minutes late. Plus. the Waldbahn went off with three carriages.

Now the one that had come from the south has headed back south and the one from the north has headed north again. On DB, the southbound one is indicated as cancelled and replaced with another train number, while the other is indicated as on time (which it isn't) and with a reduced number of carriages (which it is) so a seat is not guaranteed.

Is it the apocalypse?

For those of you who are interested in construction, they appear to be doing something in the foreground right at the bottom. A JCB is removing earth near where the signal box used to be.

Heaving it down and it has been for days. There's major floods not very far away.

They seem to be running 3-car units over to Deggendorf and beyond today. The last time I saw that happening it was a local public holiday, but I can't see anything about that today. Also, I've seen what look like Austrian Railjet trains go through non-stop twice this week. This morning it was at about 10:10 our time if you want to have a look tomorrow to see if it's something new and regular (new timetables came in on 1 June in Europe).
