Windows Tablet Advice please

PostTue Jan 31, 2017 12:10 am

hello fellas

here's the story......

i've been carting a laptop about to and from work for a number of years now, and its starting to show its age - sound goes dodgy, 1 of 3 USB's port works......anyway i'm thinking its maybe time to change it and i'm looking at tablets, although i am still interested in a laptop if people think this would be better/cheaper

so i use my laptop for....Word processing, excel, surfing, watching movies and Kodi.....

if i was to get a tablet i'd need one with a keyboard as well

anyone get any ideas?

thanks in advance

Depends on your budget. If you are going for a surface don't skimp on the cheap one, it shows.

never thought about the budget to be honest

looking at about 500 to 600 quid, possibly

or do you think i'd be better off looking at a laptop but with a smaller screen? the one i have now weighs a tonne!

You can get a decent enough thin 7 light Ultrabook Laptop for the money but a good tablet/keyboard is more costly - the best as mentioned is the Surface Pro which is good but expensive. Performance is much poorer on the lower priced models. For what you are using it for though I'd think that the mid-range tablets would be adequate or possibly 2-in-1 Laptop or as mentioned an Ultrabook but you'll have to shop around for a deal.

I've listed some examples but there are many of these about - I'd have a look in a Curry's or John Lewis or some such to see if you like the different types of device mentioned before buying, and they may have some 2015/2016 models going cheaper as the 2017 models are released.

Hmm, if you need a laptop just for work without any gaming issues, look what the Chromebooks are, they cost very less because their target audience is people who need to work with documents and the network.

Hi) I just gave my younger brother a Chromebook, as he whined that everyone in the school has the laptops, but he do not have ... At least now I'm sure that he will study, not playing games)
